How to use Internal Routes for Outbound Routes?

If you have realized that Outbound Routes configurations are very limit and you need more tools in your Application List, this is what you can do.

The first thing to do is to go to VOICE > INTERNAL ROUTE and create a new Internal Route by clicking on the icon in the lower right corner of the screen.

• Phone Number: Here you will need to set the Dialing format as follows:

_NXXXXXXXXX - For 10 digit dialing.

_1NXXXXXXXXX - For 11 digit dialing. 

• Context: You must use the same context typically used by Outbound Routes (usually from-sip).
• Description: optional

Once you have created the Internal Route, click on the 3 dots icon in the corner of your Internal Route and select EDIT INTERNAL ROUTE.

Go to ACTIONS and here add the following 2 applications:

Set

• Variable: CALLERID(num)
• Value: Your caller ID in 11 digits format

External Dial

• Trunk: Outgoing trunk
• Phone: 1${EXTEN} for 11-digit dialing, or ${EXTEN} for 10-digit dialing
• Timeout: (a timeout of 30 to 60 secs is recommended).

At the end it is VERY important to click SAVE and you are done. You will be able to use this Internal Route as an Outbound Route.
